Bogard Road
DOWL began the planning efforts for this project in 2006. The purpose of the project was to give an additional east-west corridor to facilitate travel across the core area of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. There were multiple stakeholders impacted by this project who were kept informed via regular mailings or public meetings. The final design added approximately 3.25 miles of new road between downtown Palmer and Colony Middle and High schools. Features include two roundabouts, upgrades to traffic patterns at three schools, various retaining walls, new frontage roads, preparing the subsurface for future widening, and two pedestrian underpasses. Construction was completed in two phases over three construction seasons.
The project provided an additional east-west corridor to facilitate travel across the core area of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.
