Malta Pedestrian Bridge
The Montana Department of Transportation retained DOWL to design a 240-foot clear span pedestrian bridge structure, walkways, crosswalks, and lighting across the Milk River along Highway 2 in Malta, from the intersections of Highway 191 on the west end to the intersection with Highway 191 to the east of the project. Specific considerations for the project included identifying a cost-effective structure and appropriate location, potential future bridge replacement on Highway 2, local floodplain implications, and environmental documentation. Improvements also include guardrail design, painted separation medians, a pedestrian refuge, and sign design.
