Peter Courtney Minto Island Bridge

This signature pedestrian bridge connects downtown Salem to Minto-Brown Island Park and was decades in the making.

DOWL was first involved during early planning and worked with the City of Salem to develop a feasibility plan that looked at bridge and trail alignments, structure types, and potential impacts to identify the ideal bridge for this site. When it came time for final design, DOWL developed an iconic 305-foot-long inclined arch cable-stayed bridge, along with 6,000 feet of trail.

The completed project provides Salem commuters with a car-free connection into downtown and contiguous access to more than 30 miles of trail and 1,300 acres of natural area.
